Meet Maverick
A global point of view, built from real life.
I’m Maverick.
I’m 13 years old, Malaysian and Austrian, and Maverick X started with something very simple:
I wanted to create clothes that I would actually want to wear myself.
Not clothes designed by adults trying to guess what teenagers like. Not something that becomes expensive just because a famous name is printed across it.
Something that feels current, comfortable and personal.
Something that comes from my world.

Personal photography. The clothing shown is Maverick’s own and is not a Maverick X product.
The journey
Growing up between worlds.
I was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
When I was still very young, my family moved to Dubai in the UAE, where I spent the first two and a half years of my life.
Since then, I have grown up in Austria.
So there has never really been just one place or one culture that defines how I see the world.

Growing up in Austria
- Malaysian + Austrian
- Asian + European influences
- International school
- English
- German
- Learning Mandarin
I’m Malaysian and Austrian. Asian and European influences have always been part of my life.
I go to an international school and grow up around people from many different countries, cultures and backgrounds.
I speak English and German, and I’m also learning to speak and write Mandarin.
Travelling has always been normal for me. Different countries, languages, food, architecture, landscapes and ways of living all influence how I see things.
And they influence what I think looks good.
Maverick X comes from that mix.
Why Maverick X?
My name has its own story.
I was named Maverick because aviation has always been part of my family.
My mum was a flight attendant and my dad is a pilot.
Flying, airports and travelling were part of my world before I was even old enough to understand them. That connection is one of the reasons why Aviation is one of the main influences behind Maverick X.
The X has another meaning.
My Chinese middle name is Xin.
The Chinese characters used in the Maverick X identity represent Xin, my middle name, and connect the brand to my Asian background.
Xin also carries, in a broader sense, the idea of prosperity, growth and flourishing. For me, that does not simply mean money or success. It means moving forward, learning, improving and creating something that can grow over time.

The MXJ mark and the Chinese characters beneath it are not just decoration. The characters represent Xin, my middle name, and connect the visual identity of the brand back to my background.
It is a small detail, but that is what I like about it. You do not have to understand everything immediately. Some parts of the brand have a story behind them that you discover later.
Maverick
- Family connection to aviation
- Mum was a flight attendant
- Dad is a pilot
Xin
- Chinese middle name
- Asian heritage
- Prosperity, growth, flourishing
Maverick + Xin = Maverick X
It is not just a brand name. It is part of my story.
Six parts of my world
Football. Mountains. Water. Aviation. Travel. Culture.
They are not marketing categories created for the brand. They come from things I actually experience.
Football
Football is a big part of my life.
It influences how I think about clothes because what I wear has to work when I’m moving, meeting friends, travelling or just hanging out.
It should look good, but it should also feel easy to wear.
Football also has its own global culture. Clubs, cities, players, colours, kits and supporters all create their own identities. That mix of sport and style is something I want Maverick X to explore.
Mountains
Growing up in Austria means mountains are part of my life.
Snow. Winter. Skiing. Cold mornings. Being outside.
It is almost the opposite of the tropical place where I was born. That contrast is something I like.
Maverick X does not have to belong to one climate or one type of place.
Water
Then there is water.
The sea. Lakes. Boats. Swimming. Summer.
Water represents a completely different feeling from the mountains. More relaxed. Lighter. Warmer.
Having both mountains and water as influences reflects the different places and environments that are part of my life.
Aviation
Aviation is personal.
My mum worked as a flight attendant. My dad is a pilot. Even my name is connected to that world.
Aircraft, airports, routes, destinations and the feeling of taking off have always fascinated me.
Aviation is not just about planes. It represents movement. Leaving one place and discovering another.
Travel
Travel has shaped how I see the world.
I was born in Malaysia, lived in Dubai and grew up in Austria.
Travelling also means constantly seeing new things. Different cities. Different styles. Different people. Different languages. Different ways of doing the same thing.
I want Maverick X to take inspiration from that rather than belonging to only one city or one country.
Culture
Culture connects everything.
Malaysia. Austria. Dubai. Asia. Europe. International school. English. German. Mandarin.
Different people. Different perspectives. Different ways of seeing the same world.
I do not want Maverick X to look like it comes from only one place. Its point of view should be global because my life already is.
The idea
Why start a clothing brand at 13?
Because teenagers know what teenagers actually wear.
We know when something feels too childish.
We also know when adults are trying too hard to make something look “cool”.
And we know that putting a huge logo on a T-shirt does not automatically make it better.
That is one of the reasons I wanted to start Maverick X.
I do not want to pretend that I already know everything about fashion. I do not.
That is part of the idea. I want to learn.
Drop 001
Starting small.
Maverick X starts with T-shirts and hoodies.
Small quantities. A few designs. A first drop. Then we see what happens.
I want to wear the clothes myself. I want other teenagers to see them, touch them, try them and tell me what they actually think.
What do they like?
What would they change?
Which design would they really wear?
Which one would they actually buy?
How should it fit?
How should it feel?
Then I want to use those answers to make the next drop better.
Drop 001 is the beginning.
I want to learn about fabrics. Fit. Printing. Manufacturing. Design. Quality. Pricing. What makes one T-shirt feel great and another one feel cheap. What works in a design and what only looks good on a screen.
Every drop should teach me something. And every drop should make the next one better.
The promise
No Hype Tax.
I like sneakers and streetwear.
But I also see how much people sometimes pay simply because a certain name or logo is on something.
Maverick X should think differently.
Good design matters.
Good materials matter.
Fit matters.
Quality matters.
A famous logo alone should not be the reason something costs more.
That is what No Hype Tax means to me.
It does not mean making the cheapest clothing possible. Cheap and good are not the same thing. It means trying to make clothes where the value comes from the actual product — the design, material, fit and quality — rather than just the hype around the name.
How it works
Learning in public.
Maverick X is not supposed to look like a huge fashion company pretending to have everything figured out.
I’m 13. This is the start.
I want people to be able to follow what happens.
Some designs will work. Some probably will not. Some ideas will change.
My own style will change too.
- Listen.
- Learn.
- Change.
- Make the next one better.
This is only the beginning
Wear your own world.
I do not know exactly what Maverick X will look like five years from now.
And I think that is one of the most interesting parts.
I will grow up. My style will change. Fashion will change. I will travel to new places, meet new people, learn new things and probably get some things wrong along the way.
Maverick X can grow with all of that.
For now, it starts with a 13-year-old, a small collection and a point of view shaped by more than one world.
